INTRODUCTION

Nolvadex (tamoxifen citrate) is one of the most widely prescribed antiestrogens, particularly in the treatment of breast cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs known as selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs).

In the United States, tamoxifen is the most widely used antiestrogen. This drug has been widely prescribed to women of all ages, with over 200 million prescriptions being issued yearly. In the USA, tamoxifen has also been used off-label to treat breast cancer.

While the FDA has approved tamoxifen for the treatment of hormone receptor-positive (HR+) early-stage breast cancer, tamoxifen is not approved for the treatment of HR-negative (ER-) breast cancer.

In the United Kingdom, tamoxifen has been used for the treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) early-stage (pM) breast cancer, particularly for advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have failed tamoxifen therapy. The United Kingdom’s tamoxifen product licence and pharmacy notice lists the drug as ‘safe and effective’ for the treatment of postmenopausal women with ER-positive (pM) breast cancer.

SIDE EFFECTS OF TAMOXIFEN

The side effects of tamoxifen are generally mild and short-lived, with less than 3% of users reporting any adverse reactions during the first month of treatment. In most cases, these reactions subside on their own, although symptoms such as hot flashes, nausea and mood changes may recur. The most common adverse reaction reported by patients during tamoxifen therapy was hot flashes, occurring in approximately 10% of users. Other less common reactions, although more likely in some cases, included breast enlargement or tenderness, occurred in less than 1% of users.

The drug is classified as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). This class of drugs works by blocking the activity of estrogen receptors in breast tissue, preventing estrogen from exerting its effects. Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), and the side effects of tamoxifen may include hot flashes, breast enlargement and/or tenderness, as well as osteoporosis (bone strength loss) and a decrease in bone mass. Tamoxifen has not been shown to have an effect on the development of osteoporosis in women with breast cancer.

The use of tamoxifen as a treatment for breast cancer has been reported to be associated with an increased risk of invasive breast cancer. In the UK, tamoxifen use has been linked to increased risks of cancer recurrence and mortality, including in postmenopausal women. The use of tamoxifen is not recommended in women under the age of 50 and is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF TAMOXIFEN

Tamoxifen is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to tamoxifen or any of its components.

Tamoxifen can cause ovarian cysts (ovarian cysts) in women. In the UK, tamoxifen is contraindicated in women with a known hypersensitivity to tamoxifen or any of its components.

Tamoxifen can also be used in women who are breastfeeding or who are pregnant when indicated. Breastfeeding is not recommended in the UK due to potential risks to mother and baby.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Tamoxifen should be taken as prescribed, in a single dose. The dose should not exceed 200 mg once daily. The dosage of tamoxifen is determined by the patient and should be kept in close communication with their doctor. For the treatment of breast cancer, the recommended dose of tamoxifen is 20 mg once daily, given as a single daily dose.

The most common adverse reaction reported during tamoxifen therapy was hot flashes. Other less common adverse reactions reported in women who used tamoxifen as part of their treatment plan include breast enlargement and tenderness, as well as osteoporosis. A higher risk of hot flashes, breast enlargement and/or tenderness was also reported. In addition, women who have experienced breast tenderness during tamoxifen therapy may have a decreased libido.

Hi all,

I was on a long term cycle of Clomid with very mild side effects. Not too bad but it did get me some weight loss and increased libido. I have not had the side effects at all and it is frustrating!

I am using Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) and clomiphene for a post cycle therapy cycle as a part of a 3 week treatment. I haven't found anything on Nolvadex which makes a difference in my weight loss. I don't want to take Clomid with nolva as it is more likely that it will affect my fertility too. I have had a very successful cycle. I am just not sure if the Nolvadex/clomiphene combo is as beneficial. The side effects are similar and the side effect profile is the same. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks,

I agree with all your points! I will try the Nolva Clomid with Clomid for my fertility. I feel that I am getting an advantage with it but I am not sure if this is the case or if there are other things that are going on. I am thinking about trying the Nolva for a year now and will try the Nolva for another cycle. I am not too far off from having my period in order to have a good period, I just want to make sure I am getting my period as soon as possible so I can keep that for as long as possible. I am looking for a good cycle and would love to find out if it is possible to get the Nolva to help with my fertility. I am hoping I can find some support so I can discuss it with my doctor or other people who are working with my situation.

I hope this information helped.

I would not recommend the Nolva Clomid if you are not doing well with your period. It is a natural cycle and there is no need to increase your cycle length as you are still getting the benefits. You would probably want to start with a very low dose, about 3 weeks of Clomid, then start with a higher dose, about 5 weeks then increase to the next dose. You would need to continue with the cycle for about 6 weeks or so to see any significant effects.

Thanks for the information! I will definitely try Clomid for my period and see if that helps my fertility. I hope I am not alone in my doubts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The information is in this thread, but for the information, the link should be at the end of the page and this is the link to the next page. If you are not sure, visit this thread.

I am using Nolva for my fertility and am having trouble getting my period. I have been on it for a month. I had no problems with my period. It is not going away. I am trying to get the period up but can't find anything on the website. My fertility is still very weak and I am hoping to start my period again soon. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for all the advice.

I am also trying to conceive and am having a hard time getting my period up but this is not my first cycle. I am on Clomid and am not getting my period. I'm also trying to get my period up but I'm worried about the number of cycles. I have read the instructions and it's not a problem. I've taken Nolva to check my cycle. The Nolvadex I'm on is working but it will not work. I've been on it for about 6 months and I have not had the side effects. I've taken Clomid for about 6 months, and I am not experiencing any side effects. I don't want to use the Nolva as a cycle and I don't know why but I'm not sure. I'm on Clomid with a cycle every other day, and am just not getting the side effects. I'm trying to get my period up again but I'm worried about the number of cycles.
